The Challenge:
Secure, waterproof and corrosion-resistant electrical connections are vital for state-of-the-art water features, allowing installations to be easily assembled, modified and maintained. Whether they are used for temporary displays or permanent fixtures, connectors and cables are exposed and submerged in water for extended periods. Bulgin was approached to develop a connector which combined quick and convenient connectivity with long-term corrosion-resistance.
The Solution
Using its extensive knowledge of designing robust, environmentally-sealed connectors, Bulgin developed a customised circular connector manufactured from SAE 304 stainless steel. This IP66, IP68 and IP69K rated solution is ideally suited to water features, providing a robust interface for ‘fit and forget’ functionality. This bespoke connector can be used to connect pumps, lights, cables and control modules, creating reliable seals every time.
The Results
This project took just 12 weeks from the initial discussion of the client’s needs to the delivery of the first samples. Offering robust and reliable long-term connectivity, the bespoke connectors are now being used in some of the world’s largest theme parks.
